We are delighted to introduce Jullietta Stoencheva, who joins the OppAttune team as a Postgraduate Researcher.

Jullietta Stoencheva is a PhD candidate in Media and Communication Studies at Malmö University, Sweden, and a member of OppAttune’s WP4 “Media, Machines, and Mobilisations.” She holds an MA in Media and Communication Studies from Malmö University and a BA from the University of Cologne, Germany.

Her research interests include the democratic backlash, proliferation, and transnationalisation of extremist narratives across Europe. In her ongoing PhD project, she investigates how extremist narratives are mainstreamed and normalised in anonymous online spaces in Sweden and Bulgaria—and how platform affordances help shape these processes. In her work, she engages both theoretically and empirically with OppAttune’s concept of everyday extremism.
